What is MUN?
MUN (Model United Nation) is an activity where students roleplay as a delegate to a United Nation conference. Students are separated into multiple committees. Inside a committee, each student represents a country. Every committee discusses an ongoing issue in the world (refugee crisis, nuclear warfare, global warming etc.). All the students inside the committee must come up with multiple resolutions through collaboration and debating to solve the issues.
My first MUN conference
My first MUN conference was in the Bonaventura college in Leiden. Leiden is a small city in the south of Netherlands. The conference was for 3 days.
I was assigned to represent Senegal in a committee which discussed safe housing. All the delegates (students from schools/colleges) in my committee were kind and made me feel at ease. The delegates were very experienced (some were attending their 10th conference) and helped me a lot.
One of the most interesting parts of the conference was when students acting as the delegates of North Korea rejected a resolution which asked countries to increase their educational budget. Their argument was that education is not important and that they would rather spend the money on building army camps.
In my committee, a lot of interesting resolutions were passed. I saw a lot of fascinating debating, speaking and collaborating. My first experience of this MUN conference was very memorable. I am certainly looking forward to attending more MUN conferences.
I strongly recommend you to join a MUN conference if you get a chance!

This is a commendable work by Shreyas. Your hardwork, patience and diligence is worth appreciating. I really like the idea of MUN conference, this not only provides platform to the ideas and thoughts of young thinkers like yourself but also results in deeper understanding of the challenges our world is facing presently. All the best!
Good to read you are eager to learn ; keep an open mind , but also go for what you believe in.
Nice experience!
Hi Shreyas,
